The advantages of mechanization are:
1. Increase in productivity: the use of modern farm tools increases the productivity in agriculture
2. Timeliness of operation: farm operations are done at the right time since most operations are seasonal.
3. Reduces health hazard due to manual or over labour drudgery.
4. It supplements human power several folds for heavy duty jobs.
5. It saves time
6. It encourages large scale farming
7. It promotes specialization of available man power.

The disadvantages of mechanization include the following:
1. Displacement of workers especially the unskilled labourers
2. Destruction of soil structure
3. It causes environmental pollution
4. Compaction of soil by heavy machines.
