Selective exploration: this involves a situation where forest trees are not all cut down at the same time. Mature trees are cut down first while the younger ones are allowed to mature before they are cut down.

Deforestation: this is the process of cutting down trees in the forest for use by man. The cutting  down of mature ones enable others to grow or new plants are planted to replace the cut ones.
Regeneration: this is the process in which trees which are cut down easily grow back or produce new ones
Afforestation: this involves the growing of tree seedlings to make a forest. In this way, continuous timber supply is enhanced
