Four surveying equipment commonly used in the farm include:
Ranging poles
Gunter’s chain
Measuring tape

Ranging poles: are wooden or metal poles used to mark spots or stations during surveying. They are also useful for marking straight lines.
Gunter’s chain: is a surveyor’s chain of 100 links. 22 metres long. It is useful for land measurement
Compass: is an instrument designed for the measuring of directions with reference to the magnetic meridian. There are of two types-: prismatic and the theodolite compass.
Measuring tapes: are used for taking short or detailed measurements. It is used to form 3-4-5 method of measurement.
