The Zamfara House of Assembly on Thursday approved the release of N600 million for renovation of five secondary schools.

This approval followed a request to the assembly by the executive arm toward education development.
The legislature approved the request at a plenary presided over by Speaker Sanusi Rikiji.

While
announcing the approval, Rikiji said that the money would serve as part
of the state government’s counterpart fund for the Sustainable
Development Goals (SDG) to improve the state’s education sector.
According
to the speaker, the schools to benefit from the fund include Government
Girls Secondary School, Kwatarkwashi, Government Girls Secondary
School, Moriki and Government Day Secondary School, Danturai, Gusau.
Others are Government Secondary School, Maru and Government Technical College, Kaura-Namoda.
The
News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the executive request,
presented to the lawmakers on the floor of the house by the House
Leader, Alhaji Isa Abdulmumini, was unanimously endorsed by all the 24
members. (NAN)
