CONNECTIVE TISSUE: what are connective tissues?

-Connective tissues are derived from the mesoderm
-They support and hold the plant body together
-They are more abundant than other tissues
-They are spaced widely apart from each other and are embedded in matrix. There is a large amount of intercellular substance between them
-They include fibrous and elastic connective tissues, adipose (fatty) tissue, skeletal (cartilage and bone) tissue
-Blood and lymph are also considered connective tissues (haemopoeitic connective tissues)
