Outline the factors which determine the electoral success of a political party

A political party is an organised group of
people who share-common political beliefs, values
and interests with the motive of contesting
and winning election so as to control the machinery of government.
The factors that, determine the electoral
success of a political
party are:
  •  Party Manifesto: The
manifesto is a programme of action of what the political
party will do if it comes to power. If .the manifesto
is appealing to the people, it can cause the ; people to vote for the party and thereby ensure its. success.
  • The quality of the party flag bearers will go along way to determine the success of the party at the
polls. A well known flag bearer who has distinguished
himself in one endeavour of life will readily enjoy
    peoples support.
  • Wide campaign: is another factor that determine
the. success of a party at the polls.
A party that campaigns widely with
winning strategy has a greater chance of victory than party without wide campaign.
  • Tribalism
    and Ethnicism:
is another factor that determine the success of a political party in a country like
Nigeria. People are more prone to vote for candidates from their area of
origin hence party with flag bearers from a majority tribe have a high chance of winning.
  •  The requirements of the electoral law: wilt also v determine the
electoral success of a ‘political party. Parties must comply with the provisions of the electoral laws and rules.
