Party manifesto may be defined as the major
plans or programme of a political party
which the party wants to implement to the electorate if it
is voted into power.

 WHY IS A MANIFESTO NECESSARY?

• IT
  EDUCATES THE ELECTORATE: It educates the electorate to have insight
  into the aims and objectives and planned programmes of the Political Party. 
• MANIFESTO ATTRACTS SUPPORT FOR THE PARTY: It serves as magnetic pull to the
  electorates, i.e. attracting more supporters for the Party. 
• WHAT TO DO AND HOW TO DO IT:It  gives direction to the party’s programme
  of action or ideology and states how to achieve them. 
• EVALUATION:Party manifesto enable the electorates to
  assess or evaluate the party on the basis of the
  contents of the manifesto. 
• It shows
  the ideological direction of the party.
